Sorry for the delay in posting the results. I know that a couple of you have been hanging out for them. Last month when announcing the winners, I said that the Anagrammy Awards had been going for 4 years. Well, technically this month is really the 4th anniversary. The previous record of 45 voters set a few months ago was broken with 50 voters, the numbers boosted by a large number of lurkers. Thank you all for your support in voting. These figures and the positive comments many of you add make the job worthwhile. There were some big wins and a couple of categories that ended very very closely. ---------------- GENERAL CATEGORY The standard of this category is very high these days since the introduction ofthe 3 awards. There was 18 starters, but one quickly stood out with Adrian's entry. There was close competition for 2nd and 3rd places with changes occuring with the last batch of votes. Matjaz and Mick moved past Richard and Tom for their second wins for the year. This was Matjaz's 3rd Anagrammy and Mick's 16th. 1st. Adrian Hickford with: 45 Classified Document = Found access limited. Eq 2nd. Matjaz Pihler with: 31 I am lonely = E-mail only. Eq 2nd. Mick Tully with: 31 Snort cocaine = Nose narcotic. Eq 4th. Richard Grantham with: 28 Charismatic leader = Declare I am a Christ! Eq 4th. Tom Myers with: 28 Paranormal activity = I am part clairvoyant. ---------------- ENTERTAINMENT CATEGORY This category started out quite closely with Janet, Tom and Mey all being in contention. The last two days strongly favoured Tom and he pulled well clear for a comfortable win. 1st. Tom Myers with: 71 He's a legend in his own mind = Neil Diamond, when he sings. 2nd. Meyran Kraus with: 51 'The Old Man and the Sea' by Ernest Hemingway = He's made his enemy angry and won the battle. 3rd. Jaybur with: 49 'The Laughing Cavalier' a painting by Frans Hals = A fresh chap in a big hat grinning suavely at all. ---------------- TOPICAL CATEGORY "Mr Topical", Tom Myers, was finally back in the Winners' Circle in his favourite category. It was close most of the way with Janet and Zoran providing good competition, but another sound finish gave Tom his 2nd win this month. Tom has won a total of 43 awards in his almost 4 years with the group. 1st. Tom Myers with: 67 Celibacy in the priesthood = Choir boys end pathetic lie! 2nd. Jaybur with: 54 Mid East = Sad time. 3rd. Zoran Radisavlevic with: 53 President Kostunica = Pretentious and sick! ---------------- RUDE CATEGORY I wasn't sure if the voters would swallow my entry in this category or whether it would leave a bad taste in their mouths. They obviously decided that it sucks, but voted for it anyway. The early competition was close but a good run of votes in the middle of the competition gave me a smallish lead. The votes were spread so evenly around the rest of the field, that they stopped any one other anagram catching me. My 3rd win this year and 68th all up. 1st. Larry Brash with: 48 Oral stimulation of the penis = Fellatio's proteins in a mouth. Eq 2nd. Adrian Hickford with: 40 A close encounter of the third kind = The alien confronted her, dicks out. Eq 2nd. Tom Myers with: 40 I've got a boner ~ to go in beaver! ---------------- PEOPLE'S NAMES CATEGORY I never had many doubts about who would win this, nor did most of the voters. 32 voters gave Richard's gem at least one point. Another big margin win here. Richard's 4th win of the year and still easy leader on the All Time Table with 102 awards. 1st. Richard Grantham with: 71 Nurse Florence Nightingale = Heroine curing fallen gents. 2nd. Graham Perkins with: 45 Admiral Horatio Lord Nelson = An old RN sailor, a hero I'm told. 3rd. Larry Brash with: 39 Ernesto Guevara and Fidel Castro = Dared enforce revolt against USA. ---------------- OTHER NAMES CATEGORY This category's standard has really lifted in the last 6 months or so. It was traditionally one of the softer category with usually just 4-5 average quality nominations. It now regularly has up to 10 nominations and often contains some of the best anagrams of the awards each month. This was close throughout with Mey, Joe, and David Green all performing well. Joe and mey were neck and neck at the end. I notice that Joe felt that he had lost, but the last votes tied the contest. A great first Anagrammy to Joe! Well done. Copy the image and add it to your web page with pride. Eq 1st. Joe Fathallah with: 57 Fat Club = Cut flab. Eq 1st. Meyran Kraus with: 57 The Oxford English Dictionary = I find thy lexicon's rather good. 3rd. David A. Green with: 44 The British Board of Film Censors = Robs cinemas of best horrid filth. ---------------- SPAM CATEGORY Only 4 entrants this month with the spam regulars, like myself and David Bourke, not in the field. Mey is just too good for us! The votes mainly went in reverse Donkey Vote order (4-3-2). 1st. Meyran Kraus with: 71 The Amish are known worldwide for their simple lifestyle and their quality workmanship. 2nd. Adrian Hickford with: 57 If you are looking for niche fetish content for your site then visit us at Modelxpose. 3rd. Don P. Fortier with: 38 Please check out 5 dollars an email... ---------------- LONG CATEGORY This was another close one. Mey and Janet gradually broke clear of the pack and either could have won. The last vote received created a tie. A fair result! Janet has had 4 wins in 2002 and a total of 36 over the last 2 years. 1st. Jaybur with: 44 HOW TO CONVERSE: A short lesson 2nd. Meyran Kraus with: 44 Pink Get The Party Started 3rd. James H. Young with: 30 Welcome to Anagram International, Inc., manufacturers of the world's finest metallic balloons ---------------- SPECIAL CATEGORY A strong field of 11 nominations. Adrian was the early leader with good challenges from Mey and later from Lardy Girl whose finish was strongest. Lardy Girl has now won 6 awards to take her into the Top Twenty. Adrian won two awards this month and a total of 15 in just over a year. Mey has been on an incredible winning streak with 13 wins already this year. He is gradually clawing back Richard's lead on the All Time Table. 1st. Lardy Girl with: 44 [Famous Last Words] 2nd. Meyran Kraus with: 41 Across the Universe The Beatles 3rd. Adrian Hickford with: 29 As some day it may happen that a victim must be found, 4th. John Tezel with: 20 Managing the Karma: 123 Rude Euphemisms 5th. Larry Brash with: 19 All the world's a stage, And all the men and women merely players; ---------------- AWARDSMASTER'S CHOICE AWARD FOR THE BEST NON-WINNING ANAGRAM. Many possible contenders, as usual, here as the best also-rans. It is unusual for the same person to win this two months in a row, but I felt that David Green's nomination in Other Names was the pick of the bunch. If the two ties had not occurred the result may have been different. David A. Green with: The British Board of Film Censors = Robs cinemas of best horrid filth.
