Anagrammatic Flags by Richard Grantham

Anagrammy Awards > Anagrammatic Flags

This is a comprehensive collection of groups of national flags that contain the same amount of each colour by area, thus forming mutual anagrams. Many of the original flags have been subtly altered in pattern, colour or proportion to become close approximations of the official versions. In particular, liberties have been taken with proportion in order to allow flags of wildly differing proportions to have the same total area.

Several flags (e.g. Spain, Bolivia, Ethiopia) also exist in versions bearing coats of arms. In each case, the plain version has been used.

This collection won an Anagrammy in July 2002 (Special Category).
