It was decided to adjust the limits between the short categories and Medium category, allowing some overlap, but disallowing any exceptions. The new limit for the short categories was raised to 44, and the Medium category remained at 41 to 100 letters. Anagrams between 41 and 44 can be placed in either the shorter or Medium categories.

Richard Grantham resigned from the Archivist position, which was temporarily taken over by Larry Brash until a replacement could be found.
