Layla
(Eric Clapton and Jim Gordon--from Derek and the Dominos)

What'll you do when you get lonely
And nobody's waiting by your side?
You've been running and hiding much too long.
You know it's just your foolish pride.

Layla, you've got me on my knees.
Layla, I'm begging, darling please.
Layla, darling won't you ease my worried mind.

I tried to give you consolation
When your old man had let you down.
Like a fool, I fell in love with you,
Turned my whole world upside down.

Layla, you've got me on my knees.
Layla, I'm begging, darling please.
Layla, darling won't you ease my worried mind.

Let's make the best of the situation
Before I finally go insane.
Please don't say we'll never find a way
And tell me all my love's in vain.

Layla, you've got me on my knees.
Layla, I'm begging, darling please.
Layla, darling won't you ease my worried mind.

Layla, you've got me on my knees.
Layla, I'm begging, darling please.
Layla, darling won't you ease my worried mind.

Palin
(Layla tune)

What'll you do in your lonely Alaskan homeland,
Where not many men love you any more?
You're billed as modern maverick mommy,
Denying damned lies and myths galore!

Palin, your modeling gig's over now;
Sarah, go take a timely final bow.
Sarah, won't you please go away!

You're dim, only nominally intelligent,
Densely dull one-dimensional being,
Markedly indolent, yet rudely belligerent,
Immodest self-indulgent diva dreaming.

Palin, your modeling gig's over now;
Sarah, go take a timely final bow.
Sarah, why won't you go away!

You enjoyed mingling in a muddled election;
A kindly dodderer gave benefit of the doubt.
So suddenly a convenient lively selection,
Now just as suddenly felled, motioned out.

Palin, your modeling gig's over now;
Sarah, go take a timely final bow.
Girl, will you please go away!

Palin, your modeling gig's over now;
Sarah, do go take a timely final bow!
Girl, will you please go away-y-y-y-y-y-y!!

Poem by J. A. Shedd:

"He who thanks but with the lips
Thanks but in part;
The full, the true Thanksgiving
Comes from the heart."

I'm thankful for: Phew, not much--
Just the Light, night, breath,
Mother, dad, hubby, sons, sister,
Paths I've taken, health we kept!

LOCK, SHOCK, AND BARREL:
"Kidnap the Sandy Claws, beat him with a stick;
Lock him up for ninety years, see what makes him tick.
Kidnap the Sandy Claws, chop him into bits;
Mr. Oogie Boogie is sure to get his kicks.
Kidnap the Sandy Claws, see what we will see;
Lock him in a cage and then, throw away the key."

In "Nightmare Before Christmas", three wicked kids sang a bleak cacophony. Skeleton King, mimicking happy Santa with a knapsack, awoke children with hideous kinky toys. But, heroic stitched-eyelid Sally was able to help Santa make his way to each kid, who welcomed whitest Christmas snow!

Little Jack Horner sat in a corner,
Eating his Christmas pie;
He put in his thumb and pulled out a plum,
And said, "What a good boy am I!"

Thanks to a Crusaders' jaunt to rebuild at a Holy Land,
and home again with spice hauls to the brim,
plump mince pie had its origin.

Here's a tale that's induced some laughter
'Bout a mermaid and Tony Craughter;
It seems he caught 'er
In knee-deep waughter
And they lived happ'ly ever aughter!

Tony's mermaid adopted a daughter;
Unlucky teachers' helpers taughter.
Hailed an underachiever,
Mum wanted to leave her;
At eighteen, the gypsies baughter!
