INVICTUS by William Ernest Henley
Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the Pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be,
For my unconquerable soul.
In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody but unbowed.
Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds, and shall find, me unafraid.
It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate.
I am the captain of my soul.

MERCY WON ME THAT FUTURE CHANCE by Goldfern
Through clouds of doubt, or fears,
The path for sooth is hard to see.
But in my heart, plain to hear,
Words of Light beckon me.
If I can quiet my mind,
And feel the pulse of will,
The way my soul must find,
And heart's destiny fulfill.
The body is a vehicle,
For travel here mundane.
The task to bear the miracle,
And return it home again.
That chaos which encumbers me,
Can not concoct a chain,
Beyond simple ways to flee.
The Havoc's wants are vain.
My soul can't help but bloom,
For at the end,
Despite the gloom
It is what God intends.
